Why CGI Observes the Biblical Holy Days
The annual holy days were ordained by God, kept by the ancient Israelites, and continued by the early New Testament Christians. These seven annual "appointed feasts" picture God's plan of salvation for man.
Far from being merely "Jewish feasts," these are the Lord's appointed times — set apart by God Himself as holy convocations for all who follow Him throughout all generations. Jesus kept them. Paul kept them. The early Church kept them.
Each holy day pictures a stage in God's great plan — from the sacrifice of Christ at Passover all the way to the final resurrection at the Last Great Day.

Passover
New Testament Passover
The Passover represents Christ's sacrifice for all — the individual and the world — and pictures the initial step in salvation. Only through acceptance of this sacrifice can one repent and be forgiven. Repentance is the first step for our conversion. Passover is observed at sundown on the day listed.
"For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." — 1 Corinthians 5:7

Holy Days 1 & 7
Feast of Unleavened Bread
Leaven is used to symbolize sin (1 Cor. 5:6–8). The putting out of leaven from one's house pictures ridding one's life of sin as a continual process. It also represents the action of the new convert putting sin out of their life and replacing it with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
"Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." — 1 Corinthians 5:8

Pentecost
Pentecost is the anniversary of the founding of the New Testament Church. It initiates God's plan of salvation for the world. Just as Pentecost marked the spring or first harvest, so it symbolizes the first small harvest of individuals through God's Church. In the salvation of the individual, Pentecost represents his receiving of the Holy Spirit.
"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place..." — Acts 2:1

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God." — 1 Thessalonians 4:16

Day of Atonement
The Day of Atonement pictures the binding of Satan — the removal of the author of sin from the world at Christ's return. It also pictures the at-one-ment of all humanity with God the Father through Jesus Christ. This is the only annual holy day observed as a fast, picturing the removal of sin's author and humanity's reconciliation with God.

It pictures the joy and abundance of the World Tomorrow when Satan is bound and all nations will come to worship the King of Kings together in harmony.
"Then the survivors from all the nations... will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles." — Zechariah 14:16

The Last Great Day (The Eighth Day)
The Last Great Day — also called the Eighth Day — pictures the Great White Throne Judgment and God's plan for the vast majority of humanity who have never had a full opportunity for salvation. All who have ever lived and died without truly understanding God's truth will be resurrected to their first real opportunity for salvation and eternal life.
"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it... and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books." — Revelation 20:11–12
